The Tokyo Christmas Market runs at two sites in 2026: a new one at Shin-Toyosu on the bay, open from November 20, and Shiba Park near Tokyo Tower, open from December 4. Both close on December 25, both charge entry, and both sell timed advance tickets. Here's how they compare and how to plan your visit.

The quick version: Shin-Toyosu runs November 20–December 25, 11:00–21:30 (last entry 20:30), 2 minutes from Shin-Toyosu Station. Shiba Park runs December 4–25, 11:00–22:00 (last entry 21:00), 1 minute from Onarimon Station. Adults pay ¥1,000 on weekdays, ¥1,500 on weekends and ¥2,000 on December 24–25. Elementary school kids pay ¥500 (¥1,000 on the 24th and 25th), and preschoolers get in free. Advance tickets are sold on KKday by 30-minute entry slot, and adult advance tickets come with a souvenir mug. Same-day tickets cost the same but stop once the daily quota is gone.

Shin-Toyosu or Shiba Park: which site to pick

Pick Shin-Toyosu if you're in Tokyo before December 4, since it's the only site open then, or if you want to pair the market with teamLab Planets. The digital art museum is a 3-minute walk from Shin-Toyosu Station, so an afternoon slot there followed by mulled wine after dark works well. Check teamLab Planets time slots on Klook (opens in a new tab).

Pick Shiba Park if you want the classic photo: wooden huts with Tokyo Tower lit up above them. It's more central and stays open half an hour later. Go up the tower first and walk over for dinner at the stalls. See Tokyo Tower tickets on Klook (opens in a new tab).

Each site needs its own ticket. If you only have one evening, we'd choose Shiba Park for the setting.

How Tokyo Christmas Market tickets work

Shiba Park has its own listing: see Shiba Park Christmas Market tickets on KKday (opens in a new tab).

What's at the market: glühwein, food and the pyramid

The market's symbol is the Christmas pyramid, a tiered, candle-powered wooden carousel from German folk tradition. When the market started in Hibiya Park in 2015, the organizer brought a 14 m pyramid from Seiffen, the German village famous for Christmas ornaments. Both 2026 sites are laid out around a lit-up pyramid, with wooden huts whose roofs are decorated with snowmen, Santas and reindeer.

Getting there

Shin-Toyosu (6-4 Toyosu, Koto City): 2 minutes from Shin-Toyosu Station or 3 minutes from Shijo-mae Station on the Yurikamome Line, and 2 minutes from the Toyosu Shijo-mae stop on the Tokyo BRT. Toyosu Station on the Yurakucho Line is about 15 minutes away on foot.

Shiba Park (Shiba Park Area 4, Minato City): 1 minute from Exit A6 of Onarimon Station on the Toei Mita Line. Kamiyacho (Hibiya Line, Exit 3) and Daimon (Exit A6) are about 10 minutes away, and JR Hamamatsucho (North Exit) about 12. The nearest station is not Shibakoen Station, despite the name, and the organizer warns about this.

Neither site has parking or bicycle parking. A tap-on IC card makes the trains easy; see our Suica and PASMO guide.

Roppongi Hills is holding its 20th market in Oyane Plaza, modeled on Stuttgart's. Its 10 stalls include Käthe Wohlfahrt, the German Christmas ornament shop, plus glühwein, sausages and stollen. The Keyakizaka street illumination runs nearby from November 5 to December 25, 17:00–22:00.

Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse opens at 17:00 on November 20. It's bigger, with about 60 food and goods booths, white glühwein at about 20 of them and an 11 m real tree. Peak days are December 5–6, 12–13, 18–20 and 24–25. Kids of elementary school age and under get in free, and so do junior high students until December 4. Tickets go on sale November 6 at 12:00. Gate tickets are cash only, so pay by card through the online seller (Asoview) instead. Priority-entry tickets (¥2,000–2,500) are online only. The Christmas Gate and Christmas Village areas are free.

Tokyo Christmas Market questions

Do I need to book Tokyo Christmas Market tickets in advance?

Not always, but it's safer. Same-day tickets are sold at the gate until the daily quota runs out, and the organizer may restrict same-day entry when it's crowded. For weekends and December 24–25, book a KKday slot ahead.

Is the Tokyo Christmas Market free?

No. Adults pay ¥1,000–2,000 depending on the day, and elementary school kids pay ¥500–1,000. Preschoolers are free. Food, drinks and mug deposits are extra.

Is the Tokyo Christmas Market still in Hibiya Park?

No. It started there in 2015, but the 2026 sites are Shin-Toyosu and Shiba Park. Parts of the official site still show old Hibiya directions, so use the venue pages.

What happens if it rains?

The markets stay open in the rain. Storms (typhoons, heavy rain or heavy snow) can close them, and closures are posted on the organizer's social media.

Can kids and dogs come?

Yes. Preschoolers enter free, but it gets crowded, so keep small children close. Dogs on a leash are allowed everywhere except the tent in front of the stage.
